What repeats in your Daylio

This page runs the tests the app runs, over your backup, in this tab. It looks for activities that sit on rough days more often than chance allows, for things that have tended to sit ahead of a rough stretch, and for weekday rhythms. Each finding comes as a sentence with a confidence frame and the number of days it drew on. It reports what lines up: what you kept doing in the days before things went wrong.

How it decides something is a pattern

Five tests run over the log: lagged correlation, co-occurrence, sequence, change point and weekday cycle. Each one asks whether what it sees would turn up by chance in a log with nothing in it, by shuffling the log thousands of times and counting.

Every test in the run enters one correction together, so a list of ten findings is not nine coincidences dressed up. That correction is why a page of findings is short.

  • EmergingEarly signal. This might be a pattern, I need more to be sure.
  • ProbableThis looks like a real pattern.
  • StrongThis is a consistent pattern in your history.

Or drop it here. It stays in this tab.

What this cannot see

Daylio logs one dial, mood. The app logs two, how the day went and energy, and takes a sleep number when you add one. So the tests that need energy or sleep are left out here. The ones that run are the ones a mood-and-activities log can support.

How to get the backup out of Daylio

  1. Open Daylio and tap More.
  2. Tap Backup & Restore.
  3. Open Advanced options and tap Export.
  4. Save the .daylio file to Files on iPhone or Downloads on Android, then choose it above.

Questions

Is my journal uploaded?

No. The statistics run inside your browser, in a separate thread so the page stays quick. The only thing sent out is a count, the tool’s name and whether it ran, with nothing from the file.

Why so few findings?

The tests are corrected together, so a finding has to survive the whole run, its own test and every other test beside it. A short log, or one with few activities, supports fewer tests. The line under the findings says how many ran.

What does “Early signal” mean?

It is the first of three frames: “Early signal. This might be a pattern, I need more to be sure.” Findings at that level sit behind a fold on this page, so the ones that cleared the bar are read first.

Why is there an app on this page?

The people who built this page are building Life Pattern Journal. It is not out yet. On the phone it collects both dials every day, and sleep when you add it, so the tests left out here run there. A waiting list appears under the findings once a file has run.
