Help with the app and the waiting list. The app is built and not yet released, so for now most questions are about the list. Both kinds land in the same inbox.

If entries are missing

Work through these in order.

1. Keep the app installed. The journal lives in the app’s own storage, and deleting the app deletes the journal with it.
2. Close the app fully and open it again. If nothing changes, restart the phone. This separates a display problem from missing data.
3. If you have an export file, import it using the steps below. That brings back every entry the file holds.
4. If there is no export file, stop and write to us before trying anything else.

Said plainly: there is no server copy of your journal. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing sits with us to restore from. If the entries are gone from the phone and no export exists, they cannot be brought back. Write anyway. When the entries are still on the phone and the app is failing to show them, that is a fault we can work on with you.

Exporting your journal

An export is a file that holds your entries: the dials, the tags, the notes, the dates.

1. Open the app and go to Settings.
2. Tap Export journal.
3. Choose where the file goes. Off the phone is the point: a computer, a cloud folder, or an email to yourself.

That file is the only backup this journal has, so a steady habit helps. An export at the end of each month is a reasonable rhythm.

An export file is an ordinary file. Anyone who can open the folder it sits in can open it, so give it the same care as the journal itself. The privacy page has more on this.

Importing a journal

1. Install the app and open it.
2. Go to Settings, then Import journal.
3. Pick your export file. The entries it holds come back into your log.

Import is built for a fresh install. If the app already holds entries you want to keep, write to us before importing.

Moving to a new phone

Export on the old phone. Move the file across however you like: a cable, a cloud folder, an email to yourself. Import on the new phone.

There is no account and no background sync, so the file is the only bridge between two phones.

The waiting list

To get off the list, or to change the address, write to contact@lifepatternjournal.app from the address you joined with and say which you want. Removal deletes the address. A change deletes the old one.
